This year’s Nobel Week Dialogue is all about eating. The day-long event happened December 9 and focused on The Future of Food. Each year, the Nobel Week Dialogue Nobel Laureates, the world’s leading scientists and experts, key opinion leaders, policy makers and the general public to “stimulate discussion at the highest level on a topical science-related theme.” This year’s Dialogue featured Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus, 2015 Economic Sciences Prize awardee Angus Deaton, and many other experts in the fields of food and agricultural studies.


Our Jessica Fanzo, PhD, was invited to participate in the conversation. Dr. Fanzo is the Bloomberg Distinguished Associate Professor of Ethics and Global Food & Agriculture at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics, the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Department of International Health. She also serves as the Director of the Global Food Ethics and Policy Program.


Topics of discussion at this year’s event covered a wide range of food issues: malnutrition, poverty, sustainability, and politics. The event was documented on Twitter with the hashtag #NobelDialogue, and a video of the entire event can be found on their website.
